Joe Myers, 2010 USMC Mud Run
Both my wife and I are competing. The reason I am competing is that everytime I think of a 5k or a marathon, it is nothing but running. This is more exciting as you get to overcome obstacles. It is going to be a fun event.

My wife and I and are taking up this challange for the first time . . . not because of the run but to see if we can overcome, adapt to the hills, ropes, crawls, walls, wet logs, deep in the mud all over run . . . :)
Kelly O'Connor Davis, 2010 USMC Mud Run
My ex-marine father turned 75 this year and wants to complete the mud run with 3 of his four daughters. :)

I was a last minute fill-in in 2005. A co-worker saw that I had a high score on a recent Army PT test. We ended up winning 1st place (military division) . . . I was hooked and every year since then I've been able to place top 3 military with different squads . . . maybe one day I'll do it just for fun.

Last year was the first year for me with a group of my best friends, two of them had done it the year before. I went from weighing 195 to 135 and my trainer who also went the previous year told me you ready to do it this year. It was exciting traininng for the run, and it was the best hour and a half of my life! This year we are taking a group of girls who have lost an amazing amount of weight and are ready to take on the challenge of doing something that they previously wouldn't think they would be able to do.
Michelle Wilson Rikard, 2010 USMC Mud Run
Because I was told I would never be a runner by an Army doctor . . . I listened to him up until this year. (that was 18 yrs ago) Back then, in Basic training they didn't condition the soldiers prior to making them run. Which lead to shin splint . . .

Jaime, just wanted to tell you what a very AWESOME event you had. I was extremely impressed with how well organized it was, how efficiently it was run, and how quickly the results were posted online.    Uhhh. . .   I'm still cleaning dirt out from my ears, nose, fingernails, toenails and other "parts."
Great job, Girlfriend!
Paul Scusa, 2009 USMC Mud Run
Hey, I'm no expert. . . I don't do events like this all the time. I arrived to an event that had a ton of participants expecting to be cattle-prodded along. I was pleasantly impressed. I have never seen an event so well organized. Besides the organization the course was fun and challenging. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank you!
Governor Mark Sanford, 2009 USMC Mud Run
The Marine Corps Mud Run is an extraordinary event for a couple of different reasons. One, it's an event that speaks volumes about the goodwill and patriotism of South Carolinians who in this case literally get down into the trenches themselves to have a great time and raise money for the families of fallen heroes. Two, it is a great event because in a whole variety of different ways it is about testing oneself, and working together as a team - lessons that we could all learn from in life. And three, it is a very small reminder of the hardship and daily testing of Marines and men and women of the military in general who are in the business of constantly going the extra mile. In short, the Marine Corps Mud Run is a great event because it has the two things that I think we're all after: in some way being tested ourselves, while at the same time giving to something bigger than ourselves - in this case, the noble cause of helping the families of fallen Marines.

I wanted to let you know that this was the first year our team, Cop Quad, participated and I must say that this was a spectacular event! The planning and professionalism was evident in how the race was handled. From the emails leading up to the race, to the layout of the area, how the showers were set up, the location of them, the vendors, and last but not least, the course, of course!     Job well done, Eggplant Events! You can count on this team coming back next year! Thank you and to the Marines and all the others that helped put this on.
Kelly Weimortz Hoppmann, 2009 USMC Mud Run
I am so glad to see how big the Mud Run has gotten. This is my 7th year participating; and unfortunately, I have had the benefit of receiving support from GCMF. My brother was a marine killed in Iraq in August 2006, and it was then I learned the money raised from the event helps support families like mine. I had been participating in the run for many years prior and never knew what a great cause it was for. My brother David has a scholarship named in his memory which is given to a local high school student every year, funded by the foundation. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful, fun event and for helping make the Mud Run what it is today so the GCMF can continue to support their cause.
Best Regards,

Your USMC Mud Run was fabulous to watch yesterday—so good in fact that several of us would like to participate next year . . . congratulations on a great event!
Teresa, 2008 USMC Mud Run
On behalf of both September 1 and 2 teams, I would like to extend our thanks for providing us with such a well-organized, fun event. It was our first time ever participating in one of these, but I can guarantee that it won't be our last! We all had a blast and are already planning how we can improve our times and add more teams for next year! It was a great opportunity for us civilan-folk to try our hand at a military obstacle course and just see what we are capable of doing! Thanks again so very much!
David, 2008 USMC Mud Run
WOW!  We had a great time. My team is pumped about next year already. I just wanted to let you know that the event was first class, well-run and organized. We ended up finishing in the top 25%—not bad for the first time.
Ben, 2008 USMC Mud Run
You guys put on a great event! It was my and my team's first time and we had a blast!!  I'm already thinking of next year. It is really addicting. It was very well organized from what I could tell. Thank you!
Kelly, 2008 USMC Mud Run
This was our first time doing the mudrun and we had a blast! The event was extremely well organized which made for a perfect day! We had so many people in our group we had to create 4 teams, with people traveling from Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Tennessee just to do the run! Thanks for a great day, we will see you next year!
Kim, 2008 USMC Mud Run
Thank you for another great event! I cannot believe how smoothly everything ran; even with double the size!!!  It was amazing! I hope next year, with the marines' return, it doubles again! I am sure it will continue to be a huge success! Thank you again and see you next year!
